NEWSLETTER #1 (Spring 2007)

Greetings From Our Family To Yours!

I know that most of you are looking at this and thinking to yourselves, “Who sent this? What is this? Why did they send this?” And an even better question, “Why did they send this to me?” Well, let me take each question one at a time:

1. “Who sent this?” - This is from the Wyatt family.

2. “What is this?” - This is our ministry newsletter.

3. “Why did they send this?” - We want to keep you aware of what God is doing in our lives and in the new ministry that He has prepared for us.

4. “Why did they send this to me?” - We need your prayers!

God has called us out into a ministry that honestly has us scared! That’s right, I said it… scared! I wish I could be more “spiritual” and tell you that anxiety is not part of what we are feeling as we embark on this new journey, however, to be honest, fear is mixed in there. Of course, there is excitement. There is definitely peace. There is joy in knowing that we are in His will, yet, with a lot of “unknowns” ahead of us, we are sensing a little nervousness.

“High Beams”

I really like using my High Beams! It just seems so much more comforting knowing that I can see further down the road when I am traveling 90..I mean 55 miles per hour (just joking, I don’t drive 90). I not only like being able to see further down the highway, I also like to see further down the road of life! You know what I mean?

I am the kind of guy that wants to go through life knowing how everything is going to work out. I want to know all the facts BEFORE I say, “Yes.” I want to know all the directions BEFORE I head out. I want to know how it is all going to pan out BEFORE I step out! I guess you could say that I like going through life with the High Beams on. Yet, life does not always afford us that luxury.

Eleven years ago I claimed “My Life Verse.” Looking back now, I think I should have thought it through a little more. The verse that I would build my life around was 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” In other words, God expects us to live lives that require us to trust in Him and not necessarily in what things appear to be. This life verse of mine tells me that God is not always going to give us all the info we want to live a life of faith. Being a High Beams kind of guy, this is difficult for me!

I have come to realize that walking with God is actually like driving in the fog. Driving in the fog, you would think that the high beams would be best, but amazingly you can see better when you have the low beams on! I guess the reason is that if you focus your headlights on the fog (as the high beams do) then you are blinded by the reflection. However, if you focus on the road (which is what the low beams do) you actually have a better view of where you are headed.

I have learned that God is far too wise to let us see too far out ahead on the road He has called us on. If we knew all that was out there we would be blinded by the responsibility. We would be impaired by the difficultness. We would be focused on the wrong things.

Sometimes, He wants us to go down His road with the low beams on. Oh, sure you can’t see as far out, but at least you see the road. I guess that’s what it means to live a life of faith - not necessarily knowing all of what’s out there, but knowing where and with Whom you are walking.

“A Glorious Twelve Years”

A little over twelve years ago, my Jesus called me into a loving relationship with Him and into a life of “walking by faith, not by sight.“ For a guy that would rather have the high beams on, you would think that this life of faith would have been a total misery. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, it has been a phenomenal ride! It has been a ride that has caused me to fall in love with my Savior over and over again. It has been a journey that has seen miracle after miracle of His provision. Even the valleys have been filled with His sweet grace. The tough times have brought His loving arms of comfort. The scary times have brought His gentle whisper of peace. The weak times have been engulfed by His power and might. He has been better than good to me! He has shown Himself to be faithful, trustworthy, and brilliant! Every step He has taken me on has been greater than any that I could have planned out for myself.

That is exactly why I am so excited about this next step that He has chosen for us to take. Yes, nervous, but if He is as faithful in this as He has been in everything else, then we can hardly wait to watch it unfold!

“A New Direction-Low Beam Time Again!”

After six years as Pastor of one of the most loving churches in the world, Shiloh Baptist Church in Milton, NC., God, in His wisdom, has called us to step out in faith into the ministry known as “CROSS EYED MINISTRIES.“

This will be a multi-faceted ministry that does everything from Traditional Church Revivals and Conferences to Community Outreaches and focusing on using my passion for Stand-Up Comedy as a springboard to share Jesus with the lost and to encourage the church to a closer walk with their Savior. This is not an entirely new step for us, as God, and the generous people of Shiloh, have allowed me to preach a great number of Revivals, Conferences, Events, and do Christian Comedy over the past six years. However, for the first time, I feel that God’s plan is that I begin to focus on those areas instead of the office of “Pastor.”

I guess you could say that this is “low beam” time again. Time to focus on where we are headed and, by faith, allow Him to take care of all that’s ahead.

I ask you to please pray for us as we take this next step of faith in our lives. Notice that I said “we” and not just “I.” If God is calling “me” to this then in some form He is calling the whole Wyatt family to this. He is calling for a great sacrifice on all of our part. He is calling us to form a “team” that will enable Him to use us to accomplish His will. Pray that God would have His way with each of us and that each of us find His will in this new life of faith.

We are wonderfully excited about what God is going to do with us and through us, but as I mentioned in the beginning of this newsletter, that does not mean that we are not very nervous about this calling. There are many unanswered questions that immediately come to mind:

“Will I get enough opportunities of ministry to make a difference for the kingdom of God?”

“With this ministry being more of an ‘itinerate’ or traveling ministry, how will I handle being on the road so often?”

“During the times my family can’t travel with me, how will they handle me being on the road?”

“At least at this time, I more than likely will not be on ‘staff’ at a church. Will I get enough opportunities of ministry to support my family financially?”

“Some Ministries ‘raise support’ . Some do not. Both can be greatly used by God. Which way does God want us to do it?”

“My family and I need a ‘home church’. We need the love and support of a solid, healthy, church family. Where does God want us to call our ‘home church’?”

“Do we stay here in the county where we are currently, or should we move as a family back home to Suffolk, VA where our extended family lives?”

All of these are legitimate questions. Questions that we do not necessarily have an answer for, but we know that God does! We know that wherever He guides, He provides. Wherever He leads, He feeds.

My greatest area of prayer is similar to a portion of scripture that I read the other day. I read where God had told Moses to gather the people and go. Moses had proved himself to be a great man of faith, but he did have one great concern.

Exodus 33:12-15 “Then Moses said to the Lord, See, You say to me, `Bring up this people.' But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, `I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.' Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.’ And He said, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’ Then he said to Him, ‘If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.’”

Moses had a very real concern. He said, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” In other words, Moses said, “God, if you are not going with us, then I don’t want to go!”

That is my prayer as we begin this new journey. “God, I want You with us in this. If You are not, I don’t want to go. God we need You with us. We don’t want to be out of Your will. We don’t want to step out alone. We don’t want to head in any direction that You are not sending us. God, please show us Your presence, as we step out. Help us to know You are with us. If You are not, please I don’t want to go. I just want to be wherever You are!”

As You Pray For Us, We Will Be Praying That God Pours Himself Out On You So Much That Only He Could Get Credit For It! In Christ,

Ronnie Wyatt and Family

P.S.

If you get a chance, please send us a note to let us know that you are praying for us. It would be greatly appreciated and encouraging!
