NEWSLETTER # 4 (October 2007)

Greetings My Cross-Eyed Friends!

If you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, let me say welcome and thank you for taking the time to read It. You may be wondering why I chose CROSSEYED MINISTRIES to be the name of the ministry that God has called me to. Well. It simply explains what I believe God’s will is for our lives:

No matter what happens, keep your eyes on the cross. In other words, as long as you stay focused on Jesus, everything will be alright!

I hope this newsletter finds you living in HIS blessings and loving with HIS grace. You who have received our newsletter before will notice that I am changing the format around a bit. What you will notice is that I am kind of breaking it up into sections. Each section will help me to best organize my thoughts and better share what The Lord is doing in our lives. As of this time, it looks like the sections will be:

News

Devotional

Prayer Request

Of course there may be additional stuff added here and there. And sometimes, if the Lord leads, I’ll change things around. For now, it looks like the above sections will be the format. So, let’s dive in…

DEVOTION

“Cross-eyed and Crazy”

When I was a little boy, I loved to play baseball. During the summer, we would get up early and head over to the ball field and play ball all day long. Of course, things were different back in those days. Today it’s dangerous to let your kids out of your sight for five minutes, but back then we had one rule, “Be home before the street lights come on!”

We would get to the field while the dew was still glistening and gather around the pitcher’s mound to choose teams. We would always let the two best players choose the teams because we didn’t want them on the same team. Choosing teams was a very exciting time. One by one the “draft” would occur. The anticipation of whether or not you would be the next one picked was nerve racking, yet exciting!

Well, for some it was nerve racking. Not for me, I was usually one of the last one picked. It wasn’t that I did not play well. I just didn’t “look like” I could play. You see, I was an odd looking kid. I was about 4 foot tall( a foot shorter than the others). I was one chicken leg short of150 pounds (about 30 pounds more than the others). For some reason the phrase “Butterball” rings a bell.

My physical stature was not my only down side. I was also as cross-eyed as they come! My right eye could have sued my left eye for nonsupport. The right one looked to the left and the left one gazed wildly past the right. Like two ships passing in the night, they were never on the same course!

Now don’t get me wrong. I may have been vertically challenged, capacity overloaded and directionally weak, but I still LOVED to play ball! I can still hear my self screaming, “Pick me! Pick me!” as I heard the next to the last team picker say, “I’ll take the girl.” Every now and then, some one new would come into the neighborhood. They would always say to one of the team pickers, “Get the funny looking guy.” To which the team picker would say, “Naw, he’s cross-eyed and crazy.”

Cross-eyed and crazy, that was me. I am proud to say that today I continue that tradition. I am still cross-eyed and crazy. However, today in a different way. You see, back on March 26, 1995, at 7:15 p.m., I met a man named Jesus that wonderfully changed my life. He forgave me of all of my sins and He has helped me through the trials of this life ever since. I am no longer cross-eyed in the physical sense, glasses helped with that, but in the spiritual sense, I am still cross-eyed.

I have learned to handle life’s problems by keeping my eyes on the cross and my Savior who died up there for me. No matter what I face, I know God loves me. He’s already proven it with the cross (John 3:16). No matter what I need, God is there for me. I belong to Him! He’s proven it with the cross (2 Cor. 5:18 ). Do you know that going through life like that will make others think you are crazy? That’s okay, cross-eyed and crazy is a great way to be!

Verse To Meditate On:

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

2 Cor. 5:20-21

PRAYER REQUEST:

1. Pray for my family. We have been experiencing some very strong spiritual warfare over the last year. Pray that God would protect our hearts and minds, and draw us closer to each other and closer to our Savior!

2. Pray for safety and graces as I begin traveling more in this ministry.

3. Pray that God would provide enough opportunities to support my family.

4. Pray that God would either provide me with trustworthy transportation or do as He did with the children of Israel. He kept their shoes from wearing out during their 40 year trek through the wilderness! He can keep my old car from collapsing if He chooses!

5. Pray for my Health. I need to get more serious and focused on my battle with diabetes. I say battle, but honestly, I have not been fighting too hard. It’s time to start fighting back and get it under control.

6. Pray that God will lead me to a Godly group of people to help me form the Board of Directors for Crosseyed Ministries. This is an important process in what God has called me to do. I have to handle it properly.

Well, I guess I have taken enough of your time. Please visit our website and email me sometime. I NEED THE ENCOURAGEMENT!. God Bless you and thank you spending time with me!
